Chicago foodies love to dine out for a good cause, and swanky dinners benefitting every charity imaginable draw the city’s movers and shakers every night of the week. But every once in a while an event comes along that is so, well, inspired that it deserves special mention. Case in point: the upcoming Inspiration Kitchens Garfield Park Dinner:
On June 5th 2012, a Chicago Cuisine Dream Team of Koren Grieveson (avec), Top Chef Stephanie Izard (Girl and the Goat) and Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate) will join Chef David Rosenthall to prepare an ultimate three course culinary experience (paired with 3 Floyds beer!) for a select few lucky guests at Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park. The cozy new restaurant, located at 3054 W. Lake Street, is actually an award-winning social enterprise of Inspiration Corporation, and offers on-the-job food service training, marketable culinary skills and employment placement for those facing poverty and other barriers to self-sufficiency. In fact, students in the program right now will be cooking right alongside the celebri-chefs as they prepare the benefit feast — what I wouldn’t give to be in that kitchen full of inspiration!
Sound good? It gets better: each guest at dinner will receive an etching donated by critically acclaimed artist Tony Fitzpatrick. I’m a big fan of this soulful, cynical artist, so the opportunity to take home one of his pieces makes me positively drool!
Seats can be reserved by calling Mindy Neveaux at 773-878-0981 x 222 or mneveaux@inspirationcorp.org. The cost is $200 per plate and tickets must be purchased in advance. One hundred percent of ticket sales and proceeds benefit Inspiration Corporation’s supportive services, employment, and housing programs that currently assist more than 3,000 individuals and families affected by homelessness and poverty each year.
Get your tickets now, Chicago, and prepare to be inspired!
